Russian Visas
and getting a Visa for Russia
Do you need a travel visa for Russia? Unfortunately the answer is Yes.
Russia imposes a visa requirement, and the first step is getting a Russian visa invitation.
Once the Russian visa invitation has been received (fax copy or original) it
must be taken to the Russian Embassy (or Russian Consulate) in your country along with a completed Russian Visa Application form, a photograph and your passport (other requirements depend upon your nationality).
Visa application forms are available from Russian Embassies and their websites.
The Russian Embassy will process the application and will stick a Russian visa in your passport, a Russian visa requires one complete page. An example of a blank Russian Visa is shown.
The policy and price for processing a Russian visa varies depending to
which Russian Embassy you take it. As you do not need to attend the Russian Embassy
in person, companies have been formed that specialise in handling Russian visa applications - this is often a good option
even though there may be some addition cost. A travel visa for Russia can be processed and issued in a day but the service is not cheap.
